Limitations!

"Limitations need not restrict us from doing anything we really can do. Accepting our limitations is a matter of recognizing the border between:

- what we can and cannot do

- what we can do and is worth reaching for and what we can do but the value to us would not be as great as the sacrifice

This is not easy to do, and there is no set formula. But accepting our limitations can help us focus on what we realistically can and want to accomplish, rather than wanting to be or do everything."

Trying to figure out what I can and what I cannot!

You have beautifully said those lines. Limitations in our lives are un accountable and we still do not follow the limitaitons and knowingly cross it. Such limitations are our individual focus and strength to regain success.

I agree with u priya..Ratna writes so beautifully...

I think every person knows their limits when dealing with each person. Well written the same.

well i was really confused about where to comment :) you have around four blogs..

but then thot wud come to white forest. pure logic :)

Well you said it right. Its all about knowing you. what you actually are and what you can do.

but irony is that most of us know what our limitations are, but then for countless reasons we refuse to acknowledge that and attempt to do "everything". Some say they are fighting the odds, but i would rather say they are wasting their time.

white forest,

thank you for stopping by the red dirt girl's fantasy shoe blog....LOL......I'm always hunting for interesting quotes and points of views....it might be that I would like to use one of yours for a future post........Of course I would link you and reference you as well.......I like your pov....different, refreshing..ayn rand was a favorite of mine years ago.......though I am quite the emotional sort....and yes lands me in trouble quite often.......but maybe that's what I like......dealing with the trouble, thrashing my way out of it....you should check out kilroy's blog: http://kilroythegonzopapers.blogspot.com.......I think you would find a kindred spirit somewhere amongst all his postings......

Please come back - and check out the poetry blog.......it is really where my heart is at........though honestly, the shoes get tons of hits....humans - what strange creatures are we!

very rightly said. the sense of having limitations often cripple us, but we can do better if we take them to our stride and then move forward.

P.S Thanx for dropping by my photo blog, will be looking forward to your visit to my other blog Etehreal Utopia.

ur words r true. Our limitations can actually motivate us to focus on our best traits and skills.

Raghav said...

but who sets these limitations ?
if they are set by others then you are just following the rules and limits set by others, they do not have to hold true for you, and if you set them yourself then by that same logic couldnt you redefine them?
which means you have no limits

Hi White Forest......just wanted to let you know that I'm linking your blog today......though I love this one.....I'm choosing Forwards because of the imagery.......I hope they will become inspirations for new poems.......though I will swing through here on occasion to read your thoughts.........so much to think about where you are concerned.....!

But some people have said that defining what you can and cannot do based on the limited mind and thinking of an ordinary person is not useful coz we dont know what we are really capable of.. so its better not to define yourself within any scope or limits.. the ability to do something, anything, lies within ourselves.. we just need to tap that source (Richard Bach)

lIMITATIONS ARE SUCH A PERSONAL THING...
WHAT MIGHT BE MINE, MIGHT NOT BE URS....
AND YES, EVEN AFTER WE LAY THOSE LIMITATIONS FOR OURSELVES, WE STILL TRY TO CROSS THEM...THUS, EXPANDING OUR LIMITATIONS :D

Interesting...it sure keeps us from over reaching what is possible...and pursuing what is...

Neha said...

Realizing first..and then accepting things...thats the way to go..only if u accept them, can u even think of going beyond them too.

hey uv got more blogs or have i just realized that?

Hmm...was just reading MOON and THE SIXPENCE yet again. And this is one book which always makes me wonder, what it would be like to truly follow your heart -

What is better picking up the sixpence and missing the moon because it is too traumatic to aim for the moon or aiming for the moon and not giving a damn about the sixpence (aka what the world thinks). I am not too sure if you have got the formula right. Practically speaking yes you are bang on, but sometimes caught up in a tidal wave of emotions there is little scope for clear thought!

Well said! But think life shouldn't stop at realising this boundary. Cross the limitation wall and the scene seems ominous and fraught with risks. But I feel ppl who take that path enter the Hall of the Greats :)

So i was a fool to not know the power of blogs. now i can understand how blogs work.
Went thro some of the blogs, i have two words to say "great work".

coolvir said...

Yeah very true...ppl says that sky should be your limit but i always found myself liberated once i decides whats my boundries are...

Atleast after doing so,you are a bit more realistic on your expectations.

i dont think, that apart from some unrealistic things (like, i wanna land on mars), most of the things which we see our idols do, can be done by us as well. Its just that we are lazy bums, and we dont try hard enough .. yes thats the key - try hard enough.

You are limited only when you say so.

Try the other way...you will not stop at anything.

Thats what I do.

Couldnt be more true.

In fact most of the times we just worry about our limitations than trying to strive to better it! :)

i agree... there shouldn't be any limitations...

it all zeroes down to what you really want and how much drive you have..when you believe in an idea and pursue it with all conviction things look very different from then on!!

Well said...but its easier said than done...sometimes even though we know things we dont want to accept our limitations!

This is so interesting to me
- and i have been thinking
about quite a bit -
what i wish to reach for -
what i need vs want -
and what will is lose/gain to
get it?

I don't like to hurt people in
getting things so i tread gently
in this world.

except when it's chocolate:)
